Select Summer League Cups (2023/24) – Round 6

The final group matches are complete, and now it’s time to focus on the semifinals. Here’s the rundown of the last batch of games:

Division 1, Group A: Global United, after winning 24 of their last 26 games, surprisingly lost to Highlands Park A. Despite this, they didn’t qualify due to Sundowners 2’s 3-2 victory over Atletico.

Division 1, Group B: Panorama forfeited their game, and Sundowners stayed on top with a 4-4 draw against City.

Division 1, Group C: Randburg maintained their top spot with a 3-3 draw against Leeds.

Qualified for the semifinals:

  • Sundowners FC (1st Group B, 16 points)
  • Randburg (1st Group C, 10 points)
  • Global United (1st Group A, 13 points)
  • Best Second Place: Sundowners FC 2 with 12 points in 6 games (2.0 average). Both Joburg City (1.66) and Leeds (1.75) fell short in their last games.

Division 2:

Division 2, Group A: Highlands Park B finished on top with a 7-2 win against Florida. GPMI finished even after a 7-3 defeat to Old Parks 2.

Division 2, Group B: In a tight race to the top, Lenasia (7-0 vs Old Parks) and Randfontein (2-1 vs Warriors) both finished with the same points. Lenasia edged the top spot thanks to a superior head-to-head record (4-1 and 3-4).

Division 2, Group C: Rush, already qualified, lost 4-2 to Olympia, who finished second.

Qualified for the semifinals:

  • Highlands Park B (1st Group A, 16 points)
  • Rush FC (1st Group C, 9 points)
  • Lenasia Old Boys (1st Group B, 13 points)
  • Best Second Place: Randfontein with 13 points in 6 games (2.16 average), beating GPMI (1.16) and Olympia FC 2 (1.5).
