The opening round of Division 1 saw Global secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sundowners, while Atletico demonstrated their prowess with a commanding 5-2 triumph over Leeds.
However, the clash between reigning champions Highlands Park and Jozi Friends was deferred to a later date.

The match between Joburg City and Randburg AFC is currently under official review following an unfortunate incident of violence on the pitch, casting a shadow over the game’s outcome.

Meanwhile, in Division 2, the season kicked off with a goal-fest as Old Parks 2 and Old Parks 1 battled to an electrifying 5-5 draw.
Lenasia emerged victorious against Warriors with a solid 4-2 win.
Elsewhere, Florida beat GPMI in a decisive 6-2 win, and Randfontein overcame Rush with a clean 3-0 scoreline.

Summer League Information

The 2023/24 Vets Summer League is poised for an electrifying comeback on November 8th, reverting to its traditional structure of two divisions, each comprising nine teams. This restructuring comes on the heels of the dynamic promotion and relegation process witnessed in the last Summer League.

To ensure a robust and competitive league, adjustments have been made. These exceptions cater to the league’s equilibrium, considering the new teams that joined in the winter as well as those that have departed.

Division 1 and Division 2 finals: the results!

Global United clinched their inaugural League Cup triumph in a thrilling encounter, overcoming the resilient winter champions, Highlands Park B, in a goal-fest that concluded with a scoreline of 5-3.

Meanwhile, in the second division, a fierce rivalry was renewed in Randburg as last year’s dominant forces clashed in a highly anticipated showdown. Panorama, who had previously secured back-to-back league titles, found themselves bested by Randburg. Randburg, with two consecutive second-place finishes in the league behind Panorama but reigning cup champions, showcased their mettle with a convincing 3-1 victory.

Commendations are in order for both victorious teams as they have set a high bar for competitive spirit and excellence. Anticipation now builds for the Summer League’s commencement next week, where the stage is set for another chapter of enthralling football drama.

DIVISION 1 FINAL will be played at Balfour Park, the 1st of November 2023, between Global United and Winter Champions Highlands Park A

DIVISION 2 FINAL will be played at Randburg Football Club Grounds, the 1st of November 2023, between last season’s cup champions Ranburg AFC and Winter Champions Panorama FC

Joburg City Wins Division 3 Winter League Cup; Division 1 and 2 Finals Set

Congratulations to Joburg City on winning the Division 3 Winter League Cup, defeating GPMI 4-2 in the final.

In Division 1, Global beat Sundowners 4-1 and will face Winter champions Highlands Park A in the final, after they beat Jozi Friends 2-1.

In Division 2, Panorama beat Sandton Warriors 4-0 and will play the final against Randburg, who beat Lenasia 3-1. Randburg reached their second final in a row and will try to prevent Panorama from winning the double.

The Division 1 and Division 2 finals will be played next week, on November 1st.

Division 1 and 2 Cup Quarter Finals Results

Here are the Division 1 and Division 2 Cup Quarter Finals results from October 19, 2023:

Division 1:

  1. Sundowner secured a 3-0 victory over Atletico by default, as Atletico failed to show up on time.
  2. Highlands Park B did not participate in the cup, allowing Highlands Park A to advance to the semifinals.

Division 2:

  1. Panorama defeated Rush 9-1
  2. Randburg narrowly edged past Old Parks with a 1-0 win.
  3. In a thrilling contest, Lenasia managed a dramatic comeback in the final minutes to force a 3-3 draw with Randfontein. They then went on to clinch a 4-3 victory in the penalty shootout.

As we look ahead to the Semifinals scheduled for next week on the 25th of October:

Division 1 Semifinals:

  1. Jozi Friends will host Highlands Park A, with Jozi Friends having the home advantage.
  2. Global United will face Sundowners at Global United’s home ground.

  1. No Extra Time: In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, the game will proceed directly to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
  2. Home Team Responsibilities: The team designated as the “home team” is responsible for organizing and covering the costs associated with the venue and officiating staff.
  3. Semifinal and Final Venues: Locations for the semifinal and final matches will be determined once all preceding rounds have concluded.
  4. Official Requirements: A minimum of two officials must be present, with their fees to be covered by the home team.
  5. Neutral Ground for Finals: The championship match will be conducted at a neutral location, with both qualifying teams equally sharing the financial responsibilities for the field and officials.

Final round Div 2 and Div 3 cup semifinals

Division 2 concluded with unparalleled drama. Panorama secured a 3-1 victory in the double header against Rush, while Randburg clinched an impressive 8-1 win on the road. Though both teams ended on equal points, Panorama claimed the title due to a superior goal difference and a more favorable head-to-head record.
