Important League Communication

  1. Following an incident that occurred at one of the games this past Wednesday, one of our members was very badly hurt suffering a dislocated ankle/broken leg and ligament injuries. The member underwent surgery, pins were inserted and will most probably never play footy again. This all happened in the final minute of the game. The attacking player was handed a lifetime ban by the VM Committee as well as from playing for any club and or LFA. He has been flagged on the MY SAFA Portal. The Vets Masters committee appeals to all its members to please remember why we play the beautiful game on a Wednesday evening and to be mindful of the fact that we are adult breadwinners, fathers, professionals and to act responsibly when on the field at all times. We are amateurs NOT PROS
  2. Atletico FC has withdrawn from Div 1, all previous results have been deleted and future fixtures must be treated as a BYE
  3. We also are happy to announce that Roger Sookha from Sundowners has been co opted onto the committee following Jerome Sass’ resignation.

In conclusion let’s remember why we play this beautiful game and that nobody is perfect. Officials are amateurs like us, not perfect, let’s not terrorize them on the field and be mindful of the fact that the league has a zero tolerance policy if an official is either threatened, assaulted or endangered. Take what comes and play on, keep it peaceful.
