As the curtain fell on the exhilarating 2023 football season, a reduced schedule unfolded in both divisions, a direct consequence of the challenges at Balfour.

In the top-tier Division 1, Atletico demonstrated remarkable resilience, securing a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Panorama. Meanwhile, Sundowners further solidified their credentials with an emphatic 5-0 win over Randburg.

Shifting focus to Division 2, Lenasia’s remarkable winning streak continued unabated. Their sixth consecutive victory, a 6-0 win against GPMI, cements their reputation as the division’s powerhouse. In another notable encounter, Old Parks edged out Florida in a nail-biting 1-0 victory.

Summer League 2023/24: 5th round results

In Division 1 Sundonwers continued their climb to the top with a 7-2 win against Leeds. Panorama and Joburg City shared a point with a 1-1 draw while Joburg Friends beat Randburg 2-0

In Division 2 Lenasia stayed on top with a 6-4 win against Rush, and Old Parks 2 picked up a win against Randfontein. Old Parks 1 and GPMI shared a point wiht a 1-1 draw.

In the thrilling world of Division 1 football, Global United maintained their unblemished record with a 3-1 victory over Jozi Friends.
Meanwhile, Panorama emerged victorious in a high-scoring duel against Highlands Park A, clinching a 4-2 win. In another closely contested match, Sundowners triumphed in an away game against Joburg Atletico with a nail-biting 4-3 scoreline.

The Division 1 landscape was not without its controversies, as the Joburg City versus Leeds match has come under scrutiny.

Shifting focus to Division 2, Lenasia continued to mirror the success of their Division 1 counterparts by also preserving their perfect record. They edged out Randfontein in a tightly contested 2-1 victory.
Florida outplayed Rush with an overwhelming 7-2 victory, while Drunken Pandas and Old Parks 2 faced off in a gripping encounter that ended in a 3-3 draw.

Rounding off the Division 2 action, Old Parks 1 secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Warriors.

In the shadow of ongoing Eskom disruptions, the vets league faced another challenging evening. The power issues led to the postponement of several key games, complicating the already tight schedule for catch-up matches.

In Division 1 action, a closely contested battle saw Panorama succumb to Global with a narrow 2-1 defeat. Meanwhile, Sundowners FC swon in a thrilling encounter against Joburg City, clinching a resounding 5-2 victory.

Over in Division 2, GPMI delivered an impressive performance, overpowering Rush with a decisive 6-2 win. Lenasia, maintaining their impeccable form this season, secured a 3-1 victory in their away game against Florida, continuing their streak of 100% wins. In another match, Old Parks 1 triumphed over Randfontein with a clean 3-0 scoreline in an away game

In a night shadowed by Eskom’s power issues, a limited slate of games unfolded.

In Division 1, Global delivered a commanding performance, beating Leeds with a decisive 4-1 victory.
Sundowners played 2 days later and beat Highlands Park A 4-2

Shifting focus to Division 2, Lenasia overpowered Old Parks 2 in a thrilling 5-2 match. However, the match between Old Parks and Drunken Pandas was mired in controversy. Allegations of age-related cheating have prompted an official investigation. As a result, Old Parks has been awarded a default 3-0 victory. GPMI adn Ranfontein finished 1-1

Summer League 2023/24 : 1st round results

The opening round of Division 1 saw Global secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sundowners, while Atletico demonstrated their prowess with a commanding 5-2 triumph over Leeds.
However, the clash between reigning champions Highlands Park and Jozi Friends was deferred to a later date.

The match between Joburg City and Randburg AFC is currently under official review following an unfortunate incident of violence on the pitch, casting a shadow over the game’s outcome.

Meanwhile, in Division 2, the season kicked off with a goal-fest as Old Parks 2 and Old Parks 1 battled to an electrifying 5-5 draw.
Lenasia emerged victorious against Warriors with a solid 4-2 win.
Elsewhere, Florida beat GPMI in a decisive 6-2 win, and Randfontein overcame Rush with a clean 3-0 scoreline.

Summer League Information

The 2023/24 Vets Summer League is poised for an electrifying comeback on November 8th, reverting to its traditional structure of two divisions, each comprising nine teams. This restructuring comes on the heels of the dynamic promotion and relegation process witnessed in the last Summer League.

To ensure a robust and competitive league, adjustments have been made. These exceptions cater to the league’s equilibrium, considering the new teams that joined in the winter as well as those that have departed.

Division 1 and Division 2 finals: the results!

Global United clinched their inaugural League Cup triumph in a thrilling encounter, overcoming the resilient winter champions, Highlands Park B, in a goal-fest that concluded with a scoreline of 5-3.

Meanwhile, in the second division, a fierce rivalry was renewed in Randburg as last year’s dominant forces clashed in a highly anticipated showdown. Panorama, who had previously secured back-to-back league titles, found themselves bested by Randburg. Randburg, with two consecutive second-place finishes in the league behind Panorama but reigning cup champions, showcased their mettle with a convincing 3-1 victory.

Commendations are in order for both victorious teams as they have set a high bar for competitive spirit and excellence. Anticipation now builds for the Summer League’s commencement next week, where the stage is set for another chapter of enthralling football drama.

DIVISION 1 FINAL will be played at Balfour Park, the 1st of November 2023, between Global United and Winter Champions Highlands Park A

DIVISION 2 FINAL will be played at Randburg Football Club Grounds, the 1st of November 2023, between last season’s cup champions Ranburg AFC and Winter Champions Panorama FC
